On November 4, 2024, the DETAILLs project hosted an event at the University of Pisa, at the intersection of artificial intelligence and musical improvisation. The day started with an intensive workshop led by Marco Fiorini, focusing on Somax2, an AI-driven application designed to enhance musical improvisation. Participants explored the technical workings and creative potential of Somax2 through a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on practice, experiencing the technology’s capabilities firsthand.
The day ended with a live performance by Marco Fiorini at the Gipsoteca Scientifica, where he showcased a dynamic interplay between his electric guitar and Somax2’s AI algorithms. This captivating performance transported the audience through an evocative, dreamlike soundscape. A thought-provoking open discussion followed, encouraging attendees to reflect on the potential impact of AI on music and artistic expression.
The DETAILLs project is pioneering new ways to integrate AI into creative fields, advancing our understanding of how these technologies can enrich our lives. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants and our dedicated speakers for their contributions to this event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our future events!
